innocence lost
the day she left
smiling all the way
walking towards something
she knew was coming
she didn't let us in
on her little secret
handing out gifts
making us feel
special
knowing it might be
the last time
and there I was
watching
tubes pushing air into her
and then taking it out
who gave her the right
to leave like that?
the only one that ever understood
ripped away
without a sound
